This Year's Disney Design Dorm Trends

by Bill Welles

1.  Bibbidi Bobbidi Bedding

Just because you are spending more time in the library this semester than in your room doesn’t mean you should throw all decor to the wayside. And few things make you feel at home than coming back to the dorm after a long day of classes and flopping down on a bed of your own design.

You can bring a little Disney magic to your personal dreamland pretty easily, and you have a lot of choices. Want a Hawaiian bed themed with flowers and a little bit of Stitch love? Maybe you want to be your own guest with Belle and rose themed sheets? Or maybe you’d rather dive under the sea and swim to sleep with seashells and Ariel designs. Either way, there are Disney decor designs that can help you make your bed truly feel like it’s yours.

2. Horrific Books

Let’s be honest: Most of your time in college is going to be spent hitting the books. The good thing is that they don’t hit back, but the bad thing is that they can take up a lot of space.

It doesn’t have to be boring space, at least, if you pick out a pair of Haunted Mansion bookends. They’ll cast a spooky spell on your textbooks, and give you a little something to smile about during those late-night study sessions.

3. Whistle While You Dry Erase

There aren’t many times in life after college that you are going to continually rely on dry erase boards, so you better make use of it while you can. Go all-out with a classic Mickey design, and grab some colored markers and really go to Toon Town, while you’re at it.

4.  Notes for Nottingham

If you really want to put some Disney magic into your everyday life, Disney themed notebooks are a great way to do it. Whether you want a simple Mickey Mouse molebook, or want to spruce up things with more magical and less subtle designs, there are plenty of ways to keep up your studies while bringing some Disney flair along for the ride.

5. Brave Little Toaster

Sure, you technically may not be allowed to have a toaster in your dorm, but we won’t tell your RA if you don’t. Sometimes you just need a quick snack right in the comfort of your own room, and with a Mickey toaster that toasts toast with the famous mouse’s face on it, you’ll be able to bring a little magic -- and some carbs -- into your life at the same time.

6.  In a Dorm Room Far, Far Away

We’ve been focusing so far on Disney brands proper, but there are of course entire worlds -- and galaxies -- of other properties that fall under the brand now. How about a Death Star popcorn popper or teapot and mug? Maybe some Marvel influenced art? The sky really is the limit, but this is the first time you’ve truly got to design a space on your own, so let that magic freak flag fly!

When you wish upon a star, you’ll find that great furniture isn’t really that far … away. Stop on in today and we’ll be glad to help you find the best furniture for all of your dorm -- or apartment -- needs, and you won’t have to worry about breaking into your Disney savings to do it!
