You Don’t Want to Miss These 8 Awesome Holiday Light Shows

by Dale Dauterive

1. Shiver Me ‘Holiday Timbers

Pirates and ships and the Carribean might not seem to go hand-in-hand with winter and the cold holiday weather, but your mind may soon be changed.

This holiday light show, however, brings the two together in spectacular fashion. This might be the only time that you get to see a singing Christmas tree pretend to be the infamous Jack Sparrow, so enjoy it before it sails away into the sunset.

2. Down, Down, Down to Santa Town

A new year means new light shows, and this video has already gotten over two million views in less than two months. Synchronized singing pumpkins take the spotlight in this Halloween themed light mash up set to System of a Down’s “Chop Suey,” so if you are watching this at work you might want to turn the volume down a little bit.

OK sure, you got us, it’s not a winter holiday themed light show, but Halloween is still a holiday, so we’re going to count it!

3. Sports & Spice

When it comes to the holidays, you probably think of things like reindeer, mistletoe, wreaths, trees, lights, and presents.

But, there are some things that we don’t often think of: Tennis, basketball, ping pong. Just some examples. And then this light show comes along, proving that we have been wrong our whole lives for not including ping pong in our yearly festivities.

And just wait for the moment it finally switches over to an all-too-familiar Christmas tune. It’s worth it, trust us.

4. Deck The House … and Yard

If you thought your neighbors put on quite a light show, you have to check out this display. Over 180,000 lights, well, light up the night sky.

This display is a bit longer than the other ones, so grab a cup of cocoa and find some time to watch the whole thing. There’s even an archway of lights that people can walk under. Hard to tell if there’s any mistletoe or not, though...

5. It's a Zoo

Now, let’s turn our attention to Colorado, where our holiday celebration is about to get a little wild.

Just take a look at the lights at the Lincoln Park Zoo for this year. Not to be outdone by homes, there’s over 2.5 million lights in this elaborate display. Come for the lights, and stay for the animals -- now that’s a good way to celebrate the season if we do say so ourselves.

6. Santa’s Sky View

Some people decorate their houses for the holidays. Some people go all out and decorate their whole yards. And some people put on such big displays that you can see them from the sky. So, sit back and relax and watch this display, pretending you are Santa riding around in his sleigh.

7. Royal Celebrations

A new entry on this list, this Florida light show was recently uploaded. It features a royal twist that you might not normally associate with the season -- Queen’s one and only “Bohemian Rhapsody.”

Now, let’s sing it all together. Mama….ooooooooooooo.

8. Merriment from Missouri

And last but not least, we turn our attention to the Waterford Christmas Cottage in Missouri.

Set to Sia’s “Candy Cane Lane,” this light show had a lot of really cool effects, so make sure to watch the whole thing to catch them all!

And there we go! This year’s annual holiday light show list is complete, and my oh my what a list it was. Make sure to have a happy holiday season -- and remember you can come to us year round for all of your electronics needs!
